The Faculty of Banking was founded in association with the Faculty of Finance in August 2003. In September 2005, it was renamed to the Faculty of Crediting. Although the Faculty has quite a short history, the training of specialists for the banking system of Ukraine has taken place from the date of Kyiv National Economic University foundation in 1906, and now the university is a recognized leader in this field. So, the Faculty of Crediting celebrates its centenary together with KNEU.

The Faculty of Crediting is developing dynamically. Formation of the specialization “Banking”. which appeared before the Faculty was founded, increased the number of students wishing to work in banking business. More than 2100 students study in full time and part time programs. The Faculty trains bachelors and masters in the specializations “Banking”, “Economy and Entrepreneurship”. The postgraduates and teaching staff can up-grade their knowledge in postgraduate and doctoral programs.

Duration of the Bachelor’s Program
Full time and part time – 4 years, correspondence program– 4 years and 2 months.

Duration of the Master’s Program:
Full time and part time – 1 year, correspondence program– 1 year and 2 months. 

In the bachelor’s program students of the Faculty get fundamental education during the first three years, and full time students also get additional psychological and pedagogical training, which enables them to teach economic disciplines after graduation. The fourth year is devoted to professional training.

Requirements: applicants to the master’s program must have a bachelor’s degree in economics or have a degree of specialist in economics.

 The departments of the Faculty offer the following Master’s programs: Banking Management, Financing of Investments Projects,  Regulation of Banking Activity, and Financial Analysis in Banks.

The Faculty emphasizes the necessity of students’ mastering modern information technologies and learning foreign languages, mostly English and German. With this aim the Faculty incorporates 2 computer rooms with access to the Internet and a specialized research room. The best students can learn English in separate groups in the specialized program and study abroad.

The main intellectual wealth of the Faculty is its teaching staff formed of highly qualified experts with wide experience of scientific and practical work. 100 Faculty members including 18 doctors of economic sciences, professors, 38 associate professors and candidates of economic sciences, provide scientific and methodological basis of education. The text-books and scientific works of the professors of the faculty are used by all the students of educational establishments and faculties specializing in crediting. The best experts of the Faculty are often asked to advise the regulatory bodies of legislative, executive powers, the National Bank of Ukraine, and business organizations. Being the members of the Specialized Academic Councils they are in charge of doctoral and postdoctoral theses.

The Faculty emphasizes the practical teaching of students and enables them to gain practical experience in the branches of the National Bank, banking organizations of the 2-nd level, banks of Ukraine, and investment companies.

Ukrainian banks have a great need for the graduates of the Faculty, who get the most responsible posts. The heads of many banks are the graduates of the Faculty including V.Stelmah – the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, V.Matviyenko, the head of the board of directors of “Prominvestbank”. Our university is one of the first national educational establishments which joined the Bologna process; it develops and introduces new programs and approaches aimed at the standardization of the education in Europe. As a result the students of KNEU will receive degrees recognized by the countries of the European Union. It increase sthe competitiveness of our graduates at the market of labour. Additionally, the Faculty closely cooperates in the field of experience exchange with the Central University of Finance and Economics.
